Gisteren, maandag 19 oktober, presenteerde Shoot Me samen met filmfestival Movies That Matter het speciale programma Power to the People.
In Nieuwspoort werden twee films vertoond over het politieke spel tussen machthebbers en het volk.
Journalist Eefje Blankevoort presenteerde voorafgaand aan de film Letters to the President een column over de Iraanse president Ahmadinejad en hoe hij de draad weer oppakt na de onlusten rondom de verkiezingen.
In de film wordt het hedendaagse Iran getoond aan de hand van de vele brieven die worden geschreven door Iraniërs aan president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Letters to The President geeft een  beeld van de politieke situatie in Iran en de verschillen tussen stad en het Iraanse platteland.

De tweede film in het programma Power to the People was de luchtige documentaire Abraham Obama. In deze film volgt regisseur Kevin Chapados kunstenaars en activisten die met kunst en ludieke acties Amerikanen aanzetten tot het stemmen op Barack Obama. Na de voorstelling was er een Q&A met Chapados, die vragen beantwoorde van het publiek.

In het Shoot Me Café in Het Strijkijzer rockten de bandleden van DEAN met allerlei covers, van Moby tot  Kings of Leon.

Yesterday, Monday 19 october, Shoot Me presented the special programme Power to the People in collaboration with film festival Movies That Matter.
At the Nieuwspoort press centre two films were screened that deal with the political relationship between rulers and ruled.
Prior to the screening of  the Letters to the President journalist Eefje Blanckenvoort presented a column on Iranian President Ahmadinejad and how he is carrying on following the unrest surrounding the elections.
The film shows contemporary Iran using letters written by Iranian people to president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Letters to The President gives a vision of the political situation in Iran and also the differences between the city and the Iranian countryside.
The secod film of the programme Power to the People was the light-hearted documentary Abraham Obama. In the film director Kevin Chapados follows artists and activists who try to persuade Americans for vote for Barack Obama through art and playful actions. The screening was followed by a Q&A with director Kevin Chapados who answered questions of the audience.

The bandmembers of DEAN rocked in the Shoot Me Café in The Strijkijzer with all types of covers, from Moby to Kings of Leon.
